White Springs is pretty much the half-way point of the Florida Trail, which runs from the Everglades to the western end of the panhandle.. It is arguably the most scenic section of the Trail, with several access points to facilitate day hiking. There is also a beautiful hike in Big Shoals State Park along the other side of the river from the FT.

White Springs is a Florida Trail Gateway Community, as well as a Florida Greenways and Trails Town.
A 6 mile out and back, it offers waterfalls and beautiful views. Access is at the Bell Springs. From White Springs, head South on US 41 3 miles, to Lassie Black Road to NW Morrel Dr. The Bell Springs Trailhead is at the end of Morrel. From the trailhead this trail is to the right.  This 6.8 mile section of the Florida Trail is along the Suwannee River an is popular for birding and solitude.The Bell Springs Trailhead is at the end of Morrel. From the trailhead this trail is to the left. Click here for more info.
The Bridge to Bridge hike is a 5 mile hike closest to town, from the boat ramp in Wayside Park  to the ball fields in White Springs proper. Much of the trail is alongside the Suwannee River. Click here for more information.
The Big Shoals trail isn't part of the Florida Trail, but it's beautiful in its own right. While the official trail is an out and back, hiking the forest roads can make it a loop. Click here for the out and back route.
A nice 4 mile trail from the park  out to Swift Creek, the trail  hugs the Suwannee River and is a great opportunity for birding. Click here for more information.

Peacock Lake

Take FL 136 W for 9 miles, then turn left on CR 417 to US 90. Turn right on 90 and then left on 75th Drive and then right on 75th Place to the boat ramp.

Alligator Lake

Alligator Lake in Lake City has a few hiking trails around the lake. From White Springs take US 41 S to US 90 in Lake City, then head East for 2 miles then turn right on S Avalon Ave.
