White Springs Historic Guided Tour

 
You will be walking and standing at sites along downtown White Springs as your guide shares historic information. The total walk is less than a mile and a half.

For a list of Upcoming Tours (and other events in White Springs), Click Here. Currently tours are scheduled on the second Saturday and fourth Tuesday of the month. Private tours can be also scheduled at the HW store.

Meeting point
Your guide will be at the Tourism Center at the corner of US 41 and Bridge St., catty-corner from Suwannee Hardware. Please arrive up to 15 minutes before departure. There is ample parking at the Tourism Center.

Types of Tours: Unless specified all tours will start at the Tourism Center and end at the Hardware Store, lasting approximately two hours.

1. Heart of the Historic District - Markers (A), 1 - 24 (H) 

2. Northwest - Booger Bottom and Hobokon - Markers (A), Spring House, Library, markers 25-30; Turn right on Jewitt St (marker 28); turn right on Bridge St, down the hill (Booger Bottom); turn right on Hamilton Avenue, turn right into Almoglee Park and turn right on Spring St. (Hwy 41); Hardware Store - Murals (Old Fire Station - G and Hardware Store - H. Turn right on Bridge St to see Marker 24 (SBA) HQ). Visit Hardware Store.

3. River Street and Northeast of Town - Golf Cart Tour - Markers (A), 1 - 14; ride along Spring St. Marker 33 (J); turn into Cemetery; turn left on Spring St and return to town starting with markers 15 - 22; turn right on Kendrick St. marker 19; turn left on Mill St and left on Wesson to return to Hwy 41; turn left and see signs 23 - 24 (G & H) and Murals (Old Fire Station and Hardware Store). Visit Hardware Store.

4. Haunted Haunts of White Springs - available as a walking tour or golf cart tour; check the calendar for dates. 

Costs
The cost of the Walking Tour is $15 per person payable before the tour. Call Suwannee Hardware and Feed at (386) 397-2551 for more information and reservations, or stop in at  10572 Bridge St.

The cost of the Golf Cart Tour is $25 per person, minimum 4 people, payable before the tour. Call Suwannee Hardware and Feed at (386) 397-2551 for more information and reservations, or stop in at  10572 Bridge St.

Preparation
The weather can be hot, cold, sunny, wet, and anywhere in between. You may wish to have walking/hiking shoes, an umbrella, a walking stick and/or water. Most of the tour could be enjoyed by someone using a mobility device such as a scooter or wheelchair.

Tour Guides
Many of the tours will be led by Bruce. English invader from across the pond over 40 years ago, Bruce is now retired and living in White Springs since 2017. The music (he sings shanties at festivals) and the olde world historic rural setting attracted him. A historic buff of yore with family archaeologist connections, Bruce is eager to show you what historic White Springs once had and what it proudly maintains today.
